Clients and ProjectsCSLD's curriculum is built around project work undertaken by students for residential clients, municipal and regional agencies, and non-profit organizations. In the course of the year, each student works individually on one residential project and as part of a team on two community-scale projects. The project-based curriculum at CSLD exposes each student to a wide range of clients, sites, and design challenges. The curriculum offers significant project experience, and provides an important public service to residents, municipal and regional agencies, and non-profit institutions. Up to nineteen residential and twelve or more community-scale projects introduce students to career opportunities, from residential garden design to regional land planning, from environmental restoration to commercial street redesign. In completing these projects, each student acquires project management experience and builds a portfolio of graphics and writing representative of professional work. Homeowners living within reasonable distance of Conway can request the services of a student-designer. Non-profit organizations and governmental entities should call David Nordstrom at 413-369-4044 if they have a potential project that would be suitable for a student team. |
