From the words and lives of the day’s two honorary degree recipients to the reminiscences of each member of the class of 2011 to the comments of teachers and staff, June 25, 2011, was a day of inspiration and encouragement. 
Commencement speaker and honoree Majora Carter spoke compellingly of “Home(town) Security,” while her fellow honoree Nancy Jack Todd commented beautifully on the need for subtle fit between design and place. Conway Director Paul Cawood Hellmund (at left with Majora Carter and Nancy Jack Todd) focused on redoing, restoring, and reforming as crucial elements of design and planning today. Humanities professor Ken Byrne offered reasons for hope in the face of sometimes dire environmental and social problems.
Also speaking were Mollie Babize, Associate Director for Admissions and Communications, and David Nordstrom, Associate Director for Finance, Operations & Community Projects
