Enjoy an Afternoon of Tree Planting and Camaraderie

Join Conway Director Paul Cawood Hellmund and other Conway friends for tree planting in East Palo Alto + pizza

Join a fun and diverse group of people in helping plant 160 trees at a charter school in East Palo Alto, CA with Canopy on Saturday, October 19. Following the tree planting, Conway alums and friends will head to the nearby home of Susan Rosenberg ’95, a Conway alum and Canopy board member, for a casual pizza dinner. Paul Cawood Hellmund, Conway’s Director, will be there to greet alums and friends of the school and also tell the Conway story to prospective applicants and others.

The day of tree planting is organized and sponsored by Canopy, a California nonprofit organization  that protects and grows the urban forest in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and neighboring communities. Everyone with an interest in community and trees, whether or not you have a green thumb or previous experience, is welcome, and Canopy will provide all tools needed, including gloves.

  • RSVP Part Two:  When you sign up, let Canopy know if you will come for the morning shift, 8am-1pm or the afternoon shift, 11am-4pm (when most Conway people will be volunteering), or stay the whole day! Lunch will be provided.

        Location + Schedule:

  • Tree planting at: East Palo Alto Charter School (EPACS), 1286 Runnymede St., East Palo Alto, CA 94303. Volunteer for the morning shift (8am-1pm), the afternoon shift (11am-4pm), or the whole day.
  • Casual pizza dinner at: the nearby home of alum Susan Rosenberg following the afternoon shift. Her address and contact details will be shared with you once you signup.
