At the Conway School, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Our mission is to explore, develop, practice, and teach design of the land that is ecologically and socially sustainable. Through our graduate program in ecological landscape design and planning, students gain the knowledge and hands-on experience to address climate change while advancing environmental stewardship and social justice.

  • Climate-focused education: Climate change, resilience, and sustainable design are integrated throughout the curriculum, with students learning through fieldwork, studio courses, and real-world projects.
  • Real community impact: Every student completes projects for municipalities, nonprofits, and other organizations, helping communities respond to challenges such as flooding, sea level rise, extreme heat, habitat loss, and other climate-related risks.
  • Equity and justice: Our work recognizes that environmental and social issues are interconnected. We prioritize projects that support communities disproportionately affected by climate change and systemic inequities.
  • Sustainable operations: Conway strives to reflect its mission through responsible operations, including renovating an existing building for energy efficiency, aligning investments with our values, and promoting climate awareness.
  • Leadership beyond Conway: Our graduates are making a difference as designers, planners, conservation professionals, and community leaders advancing climate adaptation, regenerative design, and sustainable land use around the world.

Conway is committed to building a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future—one student, one project, and one community at a time.
