Conway attracts highly motivated, self-directed learners who want to pursue ecological planning and design careers and who learn best in an intensive and applied program. Conway students have a strong commitment to social and environmental issues.
We look for well-rounded applicants able to perform at a graduate level, balancing design theory with concrete site analysis to develop sustainable solutions.
There are no part-time or online attendance options.
Our MSED program is full-time and in-person, with no exceptions. Those who attend must be able to immerse themselves fully. While we do occasionally offer supplementary or continuing education classes online, these cannot be applied to the ten-month curriculum.
Who is a Conway student?
Passionate about sustainable design.
There is no prerequisite field of study to be admitted to Conway. Students come from very diverse backgrounds and encompass a wide age range. What they do have in common is a profound respect for the natural world and the human beings who inhabit it, and are eager to put their personal values into positive action. Our concentrated graduate degree attracts those with backgrounds in the natural sciences or to those who are practicing architects, planners, and engineers who want to design more sensitively with the land.

Self-directed, motivated, and collaborative.
Conway attracts self-directed learners who learn best in an applied program structured around real projects at a range of scales. Our collaborative and rigorous curriculum requires highly motivated students who are willing to engage in team work.
Comfortable with math, writing, speaking, and drawing.
Applicants should show the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and to achieve, after instruction, competent design expression through drawings and presentations. Since the program involves a great deal of public speaking, applicants must possess good writing skills are be fluent in English.
International students and veterans are welcome to apply.
The Conway School is a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-Certified School, and therefore is authorized to accept international students.
The Conway School welcomes applications from military veterans and military-connected students. We are committed to making our program accessible for veterans and their dependents. Conway works with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide one-on-one assistance to student veterans concerning GI Bill benefits, as well as other financial aid benefits and needs.
There is no typical Conway Student.
Students come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds and encompass a wide range of ages. Each class’s diversity of experience and perspective makes for a rich learning community.
