Student project by Addie Halligan ’17 and Emma Vautour ’17

Aquinnah Circle is known for shops, scenic overlooks, and beaches that sit at the base of dramatic and colorful cliffs. Addie Halligan ’17 and Emma Vautour ’17 worked with the Town of Aquinnah and the Wampanoag tribe to build on recommendations made in a 2016 report by a Conway student team. In addition to addressing the aesthetic and functional considerations of the site ecology and elements, the student team looked closely at the implications for sea level rise and subsequent cliff erosion on long-term placement of the historic shops run by tribal members and the outlook that sits on a remnant bunker from World War II.
